The presence of an inspiring audio-visual information and knowledge center on Indigenous Peoples.
Mata Nusantara, also known as Matata, is a Production House that focuses on documenting and archiving Indigenous Peoples in the Indonesia. Indigenous Peoples have always been present as storytellers, keepers of knowledge and wisdom, and the best guardians of the earth that have existed for a long time. The absence of a publication media that focuses on Indigenous Peoples issues is one of the backgrounds to the formation of Mata Nusantara.
Matata is present as an eye to see Indigenous Peoples who are the guardians of wisdom and the earth. Mata Nusantara is also a creative space for managing Indigenous Peoples’ knowledge through the process of documentation, production, dissemination, and archiving of audio visuals.
As part of The Indigenous Peoples Alliance of the Archipelago (AMAN), Mata Nusantara was built and acted by members of the Indigenous Peoples community and professionals in the audio visual field who come from diverse backgrounds but have the ideology and partisanship to be part of the Indigenous Peoples’ struggle.
